Bihar election live news: Prashant Kishor party worker shot dead Mokama

Tension gripped Mokama on Thursday after Jan Suraaj worker Dularchand Yadav was shot dead in Taratar village under the Ghoshwari police station area. Police suspect the killing to be linked to election rivalry, as political temperatures rise ahead of the Assembly polls. JDU candidate Anant Singh, who was campaigning in the area at the time, alleged that the attack was part of a conspiracy hatched by Surajbhan Singh.

Bihar polls: BJP files complaint against Rahul Gandhi

The BJP lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against Rahul Gandhi over his remark at a Bihar rally that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would go to any extent to win elections, and even perform Bharatnatyam on stage.

Bihar Assembly polls updates: Sita Mata Mandir will be built in 2 years, says Amit Shah

At a public meeting in Nalanda's Hilsa, Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted that after Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024, an earthen lamp has been continuously burning at the Surya Mandir in Hilsa. He recalled that the Ram Mandir was demolished 550 years ago and accused the Congress and Lalu Prasad Yadav of preventing its reconstruction for 70 years.

Emphasising Bihar’s cultural connection to Sita’s birthplace, Shah mentioned that five months ago, along with Nitish Kumar, he conducted the bhumi pujan for the Sita Maa Temple project worth Rs 850 crore, which is expected to be completed within two years, with Prime Minister Modi performing its consecration.

He added that the upcoming elections are not merely about electing MLAs or ministers, but about preventing the return of jungle raj in a new form.
