Acting firmly after the murder of Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) worker Dular Chand Yadav and the subsequent unrest in Bihar’s Mokama Assembly constituency, the Election Commission of India (ECI) transferred Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Chandan Kumar, along with SDPOs Rakesh Kumar and Abhishek Singh, faced the brunt of the poll panel’s action.
To ensure impartial governance, 2022-batch IAS officer Ashish Kumar has been appointed as the new SDO. Anand Kumar Singh replaces SDPO Rakesh Kumar, while Ayush Srivastava succeeds SDPO Abhishek Singh, who also faces possible suspension.
The ECI’s directive further indicated that SP (Rural) Vikram Sihag may be transferred as well.
In addition, the Commission has instructed that disciplinary proceedings be initiated against the concerned officers at the earliest.

Bihar election news updates: Prashant Kishor holds roadshow in Bihar Sharif
Jan Suraaj party founder Prashant Kishor held a roadshow in Bihar Sharif, emphasising that the people of Bihar are seeking change. He noted that while Nitish Kumar was initially brought in to deliver that change, the present situation has become similar to the era of Lalu Prasad Yadav, with corruption now deeply entrenched in the administration.
Kishor asserted that instead of issuing manifestos, the NDA should present a report card of its performance.
He positioned Jan Suraaj Party as a new political alternative centred on good governance and urged voters to support capable candidates over party lines to bring genuine transformation to Bihar. The broader goal, he said, is to create a system where Biharis are treated with dignity and respect.

Bihar Assembly election news updates: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra hits out at 'double-engine' government
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, after addressing a poll rally in Begusarai, said that the people of Bihar are not being heard. She said that even Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is not heard within the BJP, as the state government is being controlled by the Centre.
She argued that the so-called "double-engine" government is, in reality, a "single-engine" one. Pointing to similar situations in other states, she noted that chief ministers often appear suddenly without public awareness or local input.
The Congress MP from Kerala's Wayanad added that if there truly were a double-engine government, the voices and rights of the state’s people would be respected, allowing them to choose their own leaders — but currently, even the question of who will become the chief minister is unclear.
Bihar election news: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra urges voters to oust NDA government this time
At a public rally in Begusarai's Bachhwara, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that when people become politically aware, leaders who live in luxury and focus on their image start to feel threatened and turn to electoral malpractice. She highlighted issues of unemployment among the youth and widespread corruption in Bihar.
Vadra noted that many of the state’s factories, as well as institutions like IIT and AIIMS, were established under Congress and Jawaharlal Nehru’s leadership.
Emphasising the need for equality and an end to the exploitation of minorities, she criticised the government for neglecting women’s welfare and accused it of distributing Rs 10,000 before elections with ulterior motives. She urged people to vote wisely, calling it both their right and a matter of dignity.

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, campaigning for the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar's Begusarai, attacked the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that the ruling party tries to instil fear through its comments instead of addressing real issues.
She emphasised that people are more concerned about their present situation and livelihood. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks about allocating funds, she questioned the intent behind such statements, pointing out that citizens are struggling to make ends meet. She also asked why, after 20 years in power, the government had failed to provide jobs and was only now making such promises.
Bihar Assembly poll updates: Amit Shah juxtaposes Nitish Kumar's 'good governance' with Lalu Yadav's 'jungle raj'
Addressing a virtual rally in Samastipur's Ujiarpur, Amit Shah said that on November 6, voters must decide whether Bihar’s governance should return to the hands that spread "jungle raj" for 15 years or remain with the NDA, which has provided 20 years of good governance.
Shah highlighted that under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, and with the support of Prime Minister Modi over the past 11 years, every effort has been made to advance Bihar’s development.
He described the five NDA allies as the five 'Pandavas' united in the electoral contest, contrasting them with the 'Mahathugbandhan,' which, according to him, is riddled with internal chaos and infighting rather than focusing on contesting the NDA.
Bihar Assembly election updates: JP Nadda reminds voters of Lalu Yadav's 'jungle raj'
While addressing a virtual public meeting in Siwan, JP Nadda said that the period between 1990 and 2005, when Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi were in power, was a dark era for Bihar, marked by widespread loss and humiliation.
He stated that under Nitish Kumar’s leadership over the past 20 years, along with 11 years of development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state has managed to get its progress back on track.
Nadda urged voters to remember that when they cast their votes on November 6, they would not just be voting for BJP candidates but also for ensuring stability in Bihar under Nitish Kumar and for taking the state’s development to new heights.

Bihar Polls 2025: BJP divided people, doing 'vote chori', says Priyanka Gandhi
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed the BJP, accusing it of dividing people on religious lines and indulging in 'vote chori'.
"They divided people, went to war, but couldn't divert attention from real issues, so they're stealing votes," she said at a rally in Begusarai.
"BJP leaders criticise Nehru ji, Indira ji, but they do not raise issues like unemployment, migration. NDA government played divisive politics, propagated fake nationalism," she said.
