Tejashwi Yadav

Tejashwi Yadav is the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar. He began his political career in 2010 while campaigning for his father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, during elections. In 2015, he was elected as an MLA from the Raghopur assembly constituency. On August 10, 2022, Nitish Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the eighth time, and Tejashwi Yadav was appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister. He is the youngest leader to hold this position in Bihar.


In 2017, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case, and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) initiated an investigation against Yadav in connection with a 2004 corruption case involving money laundering. Tejashwi led the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) as the chief ministerial candidate for the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) in the 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. The RJD emerged as the largest political party in Bihar by winning 75 seats, and Tejashwi was named Leader of the Opposition.


Tejashwi is the youngest son of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi. Born on November 9, 1989, he has eight siblings. Tejashwi is a school dropout and only studied up to the ninth grade.


From 2008 to 2012, he was a professional cricketer and part of the IPL team Delhi Daredevils, though he never got to play any match. He has also played for the Jharkhand cricket team in the Ranji Trophy.


On December 9, 2021, Tejashwi married Rachel Godinho in Delhi. Rachel, who is Christian, changed her name to Rajeshwari Yadav after marriage. Rajeshwari resides in New Friends Colony, Delhi. Tejashwi and Rachel had been friends for a long time. The couple has a daughter named Katyayani.


Tejashwi Yadav is active on social media with his official Twitter handle @yadavtejashwi, a Facebook page under the name Tejashwi Yadav, and an Instagram account with the username tejashwipdyadav.
